The Pudding Project

New year, new projects!

I have been thinking about this for a while. Now, after my latest trip to England (and consequent Christmas Pudding overdose…)  I am absolutely convinced that the moment has come for me to start researching the great English traditions of puddings and pies. Puddings are a very unique kind of desserts, nothing like I came across in any other country’s culinary tradition. They have a super long history and unfortunately nowadays they are disappearing from the british everyday life, due to the fact that their elaborate preparations find no place in the fast paced lifestyle we have today….I bet many English people have no idea what some of these puddings are.

I believe that one can learn so much of the history of a country just by observing what is served on it’s dining tables, so I want to start collecting as much material as I can while I still have the time and means to do it.

Fasten your seat belt, the pudding project is ready for departure!!

Nuovo anno, nuovi progetti!

Ho avuto questa idea in testa per un po’. Ora, dopo il mio ultimo viaggio in Inghilterra (e consequente overdose di Christmas Pudding…) sono assolutamente convinta che sia arrivato il momento di cominciare la mia ricerca sui Puddings e le Pies tipici della tradizione dolciaria britannica. I puddings sono un tipo di dessert unico nel proprio genere, e non assomigliano a nulla di ciò che ho trovato nella tradizione culinaria di nessun altro paese. Vantano una tradizione secolare che purtroppo, a causa delle elaborate preparazioni, si sta perdendo nel caos della vita quotidiana ad alta velocità… scommetto che molti inglesi non abbiano neanche mai sentito nominare moltissimi di questi dolci.

Io credo che si possa imparare così tanto della storia di un paese semplicemente osservando cosa si serve in tavola, quindi mi impegno a cominciare la ricerca di materiale fintanto che ne ho i mezzi e il tempo.

Allacciate le cinture, il progetto pudding è pronto al decollo!
